How To: Build a Fall Capsule Wardrobe

Building a fall wardrobe can seem SO overwhelming. Getting that effortlessly layered look can be challenging at times {like, how much plaid is too much plaid!?}.

Sticking with basic, timeless pieces are always my go-to for that effortlessly chic look. The 5 most important fall capsule wardrobe pieces that everyone needs in their closet are:

Blazers

Jackets

Scarves

Cardigans

Boots

1. Blazers

I love blazers because they can be worn for any occasion – they can easily be dressed up with some trousers and heels or dressed down with leggings and your favorite boots.

My favorite places to shop for blazers are:

- Affordable: H&M / Zara / PrettyLittleThing

- Investment: Prada / Michael Kors / Banana Republic

2. Jackets

A good jacket can make your entire outfit. Jackets are my favorite fall staple because you can pair a great jacket with all basics and still look really put together {see picture above mmk}.

My favorite places to shop for jackets are:

- Affordable: Zara / Old Navy

- Investment: Saks / Nordstrom / Neiman Marcus

3. Scarves

Scarves are a staple for any fall wardrobe. They’re quick and easy and instantly transform any outfit!

My favorite places to shop for scarves are:

- Affordable: Zara / Topshop

- Investment: Saks / Nordstrom

4. Cardigans

Cardigans are a must have for fall. They’re great transitional pieces {you can throw them on over your favorite bodysuit} or they can act as that extra layer over an oversized button up or basic tee.

My favorite places to shop for cardigans are:

- Affordable: H&M / Express / BP. at Nordstrom

- Investment: Madewell / Nordstrom

5. Boots

Boots are also an item that can change your whole look. Cute heels instantly make an outfit look more dressy, combat boots add some edge, and Chelsea boots can add a touch of chic to a casual look.

My favorite places to shop for boots are:

- Affordable: Steve Madden / TJ Maxx / Macy’s

- Investment: Saks / Nordstrom / Neiman Marcus
